The project site is located in the town of Manono in the south-eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), where the main power grid is relatively weak, making it impossible to achieve stable power consumption in the mining area. The planned capacity of the first phase of this project is 5MWp of photovoltaic power generation, 100MW/400MWh of electrochemical energy storage, and 3.6MW (2×1.8MW) of diesel power generation, which is a typical microgrid project integrating photovoltaic power generation, energy storage and diesel power generation. The energy storage system, in cooperation with photovoltaic power generation and diesel power generation, can realise applications such as optical storage integration, energy transfer, virtual inertia, reactive power support, black start, etc. After the project is put into operation, it will effectively solve the industry problem of stable power
consumption for production and life in the mining area, and realise clean and reliable power supply.
